The Area of Leith, Edinburgh
Bulbecks Ltd is located within the popular Leith area of Edinburgh on Constitution Street. Leith has been an active port for over a thousand years. Edinburgh and
Leith used to be two separate boroughs with a mile or two of land between them, but over time they have merged together to form a bustling urban area.
In the late 1980's Leith started to enjoy an improvement in prosperity. Affordable housing was developed on the sites of old industries, and several new industrial
businesses were constructed. The Water of Leith was cleaned up and a scenic public walkway was opened. The first of the very popular "Malmaison" hotels was built
on The Shore.
One of the turning points for Leith was a decision to build Victoria Quay (completed in 1995). This building now houses much of the Scottish Government. The resulting
well-paid civil jobs improved Leith's growing reputation as "white-collar", and boosted the local commerce.
The arrival of the Ocean Terminal complex, which is home to the Royal Yacht Britannia, hugely added to the improvement of Leith. Ocean Terminal has many well-known
high street stores, a multi-screen cinema and several charming restaurants. It even has a fun soft play area for children overlooking the Royal Yacht Britannia.
Tourists can easily visit by getting one of a number of buses straight from the city centre.
